Hi mustafa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up in a family business selling men’s clothing in Jordan ignited my passion for style and fashion. When I moved to the U.S., I faced a crossroads: should I continue in retail/fashion or pursue something entirely different? Surprisingly, I found my calling in hair styling after an eye-opening tour of a prestigious hair academy known for its involvement in Fashion Week. I thought, “This is it!”—only to discover that doing hair for Fashion Week ended up being my least favorite thing to do!

Though I was uncertain at first, I decided to dive in. It took time, but I discovered a true love for hair, particularly when I focused on the services that resonated with me. My unique background and accent helped me connect with a diverse clientele, earning their trust. I committed to continuous education, honing my skills in a few specialized areas rather than spreading myself too thin. This focus allowed me to stand out in a competitive industry, turning what started as a leap of faith into a fulfilling career—minus the runway chaos!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t the smoothest road. As someone new to the U.S., I barely spoke English and felt nervous talking to clients due to my language barrier. Additionally, when starting out in a new city and industry, I took on most types of services just to fill my schedule. While this was good for keeping me busy, it also had its downsides. After completing services I didn’t enjoy, I sometimes questioned whether I was in the right industry.

However, this experience helped me pinpoint what I truly loved and wanted to specialize in. It motivated me to pursue more education and refine my skills. By narrowing my focus to the services I was passionate about, I was able to create a niche on my Instagram that attracted clients seeking those specific looks. This journey ultimately helped me gain confidence behind the chair and find my place in the industry.

I’m a hairstylist specializing in haircuts, particularly for thick hair, and lived-in, low-maintenance color techniques. I focus on creating flattering, manageable styles that enhance my clients’ natural beauty.

I’m known for my ability to craft effortless looks that fit seamlessly into their lifestyles, particularly with lived-in color that requires minimal upkeep.

What I’m most proud of is helping clients feel more confident and authentic. My personalized approach ensures I understand their unique needs, allowing me to create tailored styles that reflect their individuality. Staying updated on the latest trends is also a priority for me to provide the best service possible.
