Daily Inspiration: Meet Quincy Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Lee

Hi Quincy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Man, I started by trading a pair of shoes off my feet for a camera at a skatepark back in 2016-17. I initially thought I was going to be a photographer, thinking it would be a nice side hustle, but it quickly turned into me recording music videos. I networked and hustled onto a few strange music sets and eventually joined Social Apex Media, a digital marketing agency startup, in early 2018. Since then, I’ve just been sticking to the same formula of honing my craft and networking, and it opened a bunch of doors for me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nah, far from it, the road has been challenging. I’ve had to overcome health issues early in my career, work with artists and clients from hell, learn how to navigate the slow seasons, navigate chasing my goals, and raise a family.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a co-owner and Director of Productions at Social Apex Media. I handle all of our clients’ video production needs. I’ve worked with brands like QuikTrip, DoorDash, Amazon, Apple TV, and Marriott. What I’m most proud of is the company that my partners and I have built. We all sacrificed a lot to stay in business for six years. My determination to create something bigger than myself and my consistency sets me apart from others. Whether it’s getting better at my craft or building companies, I take a brick-by-brick approach.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
An important lesson I learned was to invest in yourself. Applied knowledge is essential. What I mean by that is to spend your time learning something you can apply right away. If you learn something you can’t use, then you’ve wasted your time.
