Exploring Life & Business with Lauren Wiehe of The Louisburro Flower Farm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Wiehe

Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Louisburro started as a joke between my husband and I. Talking about things that we wished we had done for our own wedding. Beer burros were part of our original reception plan in Texas before we decided to get married in the Dominican Republic. One day Eric said “Lets do it”! So we bought our first two donkeys and have continued to grow our farm. The flower farm portion grew from my love of Peonies. In December of 2023 we moved down the road to a larger farm so that we can continue to expand.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been mostly a smooth road. The best thing about working your own land is that you can work on your own schedule. Weather is our biggest struggle, but thats true for all farmers. It reminds us that we can’t control everything, we can only do our best with what we’re given. Every year we have had new challenges, but those challenges are what has made our business what it is today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Louisburro Flower Farm?
TLFF specializes in on site burro beverage services. “Donkeys that Deliver”! Our clients have helped us expand beyond what we originally envisioned. Don’t drink? Thats okay! The donks have passed out juice boxes, mocktails, party favors, business swag, flowers, easter eggs, company awards and school supplies. We love new ideas!

Our flower farm specializes in Peonies. We currently have 12 varieties and continue to add hundreds of new plants annually. In addition to peonies we have 5 acres of “You Pick” fields of wildflowers, zinnias, sunflowers, poppies, cosmos, and more. We welcome guests May through first frost in October. Our website will be live by March with more information. It is free to visit the farm during open hours. For those that would like to take flowers home with them, we offer a branded cup for purchase and provide snips for cutting during the visit. Stroll through the fields and curate your own bouquet. We are closed to the public in the evenings to allow for a more intimate setting for our photography sessions and private events. Photography sessions are limited to 3 bookings per day. For the 2025 season we will be adding availability for Fundraisers, birthday parties, wedding and baby showers. Our services are far from a “one size fits all”. We love new and creative ideas!

We are most proud of building our brand from the ground up. Nothing has been rushed. The best part is that there is always room for growth and new ideas. For us and our clients!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
From the outside looking in, we (I) appear to look comfortable in the country lifestyle. I was born and raised a city girl In Houston, TX. As a teen and young adult I dreamed of living life with a slower pace outside of the smog and traffic I was used to. Friends absolutely scoffed at the idea. Then I met a country boy, got married, moved to Louisburg, had some babies, and have been living our country dream ever since. Our location has been the perfect combination of country living, and proximity to the city. Don’t give up on your dream just because others don’t understand it.
