Today we’d like to introduce you to La’nesha Frazier
Hi La’Nesha , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Owning a bookstore and wine lounge was a dream of mine for a very long time (10+ years). I was at a point in my life where I was a full time Physical therapist, wife, mother of two beautiful bonus children while trying to juggle all the other pulls of life. I just desperately needed a reprieve or an oasis where I can decompress, breath and unwind even if it was just for an hour. So again, I dreamed of this place and finally after a lot of encouragement from my husband and now business partner sister, I took a leap of faith and created Bliss Books & Wine. A place for others to have that escape I so desperately needed for myself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My favorite line to say is entrepreneurship is a walk in the park…Jurassic park! There are so many ups and downs, highs and lows, but as long as you remember your WHY and have a solid support system you can overcome a lot! This has taught me how to PIVOT. From looking for a storefront, to covid, to battling for a liquor license, funding and figuring out marketing to get a steady flow of foot traffic has made these last 3 years interesting to say the least. But it is our journey and I am blessed and honored God has allowed us to walk it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Bliss Books & Wine is an independently owned bookstore for wine enthusiasts and book lovers. We promote the reading culture by encouraging curious readers, endorsing local arts, spotlighting local authors and artists, and connecting the great pastimes of social drinking and introverted reading. We exist to build a community gathering place and to create experiences by bridging the gap between books and wine.
We love to highlight local talent whether it’s our artist gallery for local artist, our local author section and book signings as well as our open mic nights every third Wednesdays. Of course we offer a variety of bookclubs and specialty events such as our quarterly mixology class, wine tastings, yoga and vendor events. We have a conference and bookclub room as well as a podcast room. My favorite room is our tranquility room where one can go and reset – whatever that means to you.
What are your plans for the future?
We are working on a few things coming up in the near future such as a membership subscription and a weekend retreat!
