Hi Kelsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I created duoFIT with one goal in mind—to support strong, powerful women through every stage of their journey. As a mom myself, I know firsthand the challenges of finding activewear that truly fits during and after pregnancy. That’s why I designed our maternity activewear to do all the things I wish I had during my first two pregnancies. Leggings that stretch, support and stay put. Nursing sports bras to not that provide the perfect balance of comfort and support. Tanks (not tents 😆) that are moisture-wicking and can be worn at any and all times. Our activewear is here to celebrate your body as it evolves.

At duoFIT, we believe your body doesn’t need to “go back.” It deserves to move forward—stronger, more resilient, and ready for whatever comes next.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The entire entrepreneurial journey has been exciting, challenging, and, at times, infuriating. When I decided to pursue my vision of creating a maternity activewear line, I realized there was nothing on the market that offered high-performance activewear designed specifically for pregnant bodies. I was building everything from scratch, relying solely on my vision. Without a background in fashion design, I had to learn how to translate my ideas into technically sound fashion sketches that our pattern maker could use to create sample pieces. On top of that, I had to quickly grasp the business side of fashion. Beyond the typical start-up struggles, navigating the retail industry and predicting consumer behaviors during and after the Covid era have been some of the most challenging aspects of the journey.

duoFIT Maternity Activewear is a small-batch, performance-grade maternity activewear line designed to support pregnant and postpartum bodies. Our mission is to offer the same high-quality activewear you’d expect from leading brands but tailored specifically for the needs of moms. Created by moms, for moms, duoFIT addresses many of the pain points we experienced during our own pregnancies.

Our leggings are engineered for comfort and performance, offering support, moisture-wicking fabrics, and versatility for wear throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Designed to relieve low-back pressure, they provide a gentle, supportive “hug” to your bump. Our nursing sports bras are built to withstand the demands of multiple feedings and rigorous workouts, featuring proprietary technology to ensure lasting support, even with frequent use.

As a small-batch brand, we prioritize quality and sustainability. We produce just enough inventory to meet demand, partnering with Rightfully Sewn, a local production company, to create our activewear. This collaboration allows us to maintain high standards while actively working to reduce fabric waste.

What sets duoFIT apart is our unwavering commitment to quality and thoughtful design. We’ve resisted the temptation to cut corners or compromise on engineering to reduce costs. Instead, we’ve created products moms can confidently invest in, knowing they’re backed by intentional craftsmanship and designed to perform through every stage of motherhood.

I love being part of a family of entrepreneurs. Both of my parents have built successful businesses and now run a nonprofit organization, the HNC Living Foundation, together. My sister is the owner and founder of City Gym KC and co-founder of FitTruk. My brother is a freelance videographer and has created nearly all the multimedia for our website. My sister-in-law works alongside me, leading duoFIT’s creative efforts. To top it off, we all share the same office building, making collaboration and connection a central part of our work lives.
