Check Out Brent Wilhelmi’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brent Wilhelmi

Brent, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ll start my story when my family relocated to Kansas City, I was seven years old. Growing up in the Northland, I spent much of my time skateboarding, which naturally fostered my interest in art, music, and creative expression. This passion for art eventually guided me toward the world of tattooing.

I received my first tattoo in 1991, and by 1995, I was offered a tattoo apprenticeship under John Monk. Since then, tattooing has been my lifelong vocation. In 2007, I was introduced to laser tattoo removal while working at a studio. This sparked a deep curiosity to learn everything I could about the tattoo removal process. Over the years, I have expanded my expertise by attending numerous seminars and webinars to stay at the forefront of the industry.

In the past year, I decided to elevate my skills in laser tattoo removal. I attended New Look Laser College in Dallas, Texas, earning certifications as a Certified Laser Specialist, Laser Safety Officer, and in Non-Ablative Tattoo Removal. Armed with this knowledge and experience, I took the next step in my career by founding RMVE KC Laser Tattoo Removal (pronounced “Remove KC”) on January 2nd.

At RMVE KC, I combine my in-depth understanding of tattoo artistry with my expertise in laser tattoo removal to provide exceptional services. My passion for the tattoo industry—whether creating art or facilitating its removal—remains unwavering. RMVE KC is built on a foundation of dedication, knowledge, and a commitment to helping clients achieve their goals.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life has not always been smooth sailing, and I’ve faced significant challenges along the way. The most pivotal moment occurred on New Year’s Day in 2003, when I was involved in a tragic accident that claimed the life of one of my closest friends. In addition to the devastating loss, I was held responsible for the incident and spent four years and eight months incarcerated.

This experience was both traumatic and transformative—a stark reminder of how quickly life can change in ways you never expect. While it was undoubtedly the most difficult period of my life, I chose to use it as an opportunity for deep self-reflection and personal growth.

When I was released in 2007, I emerged with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to build the life I had always envisioned. The birth of my daughter in 2009 became an even greater motivator, inspiring me to work tirelessly to create a life filled with opportunities for both of us.

Through these experiences, I have learned that every challenge—no matter how difficult—offers an opportunity to grow and improve. My journey has taught me resilience, accountability, and the importance of using life’s lessons to strive for a brighter future.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In the tattoo world, I am primarily recognized for my interpretation of traditional Japanese artistry, a style that initially sparked my fascination with tattoos. I have a deep appreciation for traditional tattoo styles, whether American or Japanese, and over the years, I have also developed a strong passion for illustrative black-and-grey designs.

This diverse background in tattooing has given me valuable insight into handling a wide variety of tattoos, which has proven invaluable in the tattoo removal process. Tattoo removal involves numerous subtle variables that are often overlooked by the untrained eye. My extensive experience allows me to approach each removal with precision and a deep understanding of the art.

I take great pride in using my knowledge to help clients achieve their desired results during the tattoo removal process. Whether it’s creating art or aiding in its removal, my goal is always to support and empower my clients through every step of their journey.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being raised in Kansas City, I wanted to bring a locally owned and operated specialty clinic dedicated to laser tattoo removal. Unlike an add-on service at a med spa or part of a large international chain, this clinic is truly rooted in the community. Our focus is to provide exceptional, specialized care tailored specifically to Kansas City and the surrounding areas.

I believe my dedication to continuously expanding my knowledge in areas I am passionate about, combined with my love for creativity, sets me apart from others in my field.
