Conversations with Kenda Graves

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenda Graves

Hi Kenda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had the creative bug ever since I can remember. I started dance at the age of 3. I grew up not just dancing, which eventually led me into starting and leading a drill team in high school and teaching my own dance classes, but captivated by all aspects of expressed creativity. From creative writing, cooking, content creation, to photography and videography, the arts have a permanent place in my life. At all ages and stages of my life, I did what I wanted to do, not necessarily what everyone told me I should do. It came with its trials and tribulations for sure, but rewarding nonetheless. That very mindset and the blessing of support from my inner circle, has kept me on this naturally aligning path that I’m on. I’m able to use my creativity to help others become the best version of themselves.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
What is life without its ebbs and flows? My journey has been both purposeful and humbling. It wasn’t always cool to be a creative. I’ve dealt with public scrutiny and fake love. I’ve also had to overcome debilitating mental health issues. Life reminded me that even though I may study psychology and social work, I am not immune to their downfalls. I would say out of all the hardships in life, the biggest challenge I had to overcome was myself. I had to essentially unlearn all that I knew and teach myself how to only worry about what I can control and to not take everything in life so seriously.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a self proclaimed visual curator. I specialize in photography, videography, and social media content creation. I tend to align and work best with artists, creators, and health & wellness professionals striving for both professional and personal growth. There is no doubt that this is my purpose in life. I provide a unique and undeniable perspective for those that work with me. Being able to integrate my skills in media and knowledge in psychology helps differentiate myself from others.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me in life is the ability to stand firm on principles. Honesty and transparency are imperative. At the end of the day, all a person has is their word. If it can’t be trusted, then you have nothing.
