Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooklyn Cole
Hi Brooklyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I worked in childcare as a infant teacher for about two years. I absolutely loved working with the infants and wanted to find a way to do that in a more creative outlet. As soon as I started photography, I knew I was in love. I would work full time all week and still pack my weekends full of sessions. The thing is, I loved filling my weekends with sessions. There was no part of the photography world that I wasn’t in love with. From there I knew that this was my passion and my purpose. I committed to building my portfolio, prop stash and clientele. Within a year I was ready to go full time! I have been full time for a couple months booking anything from weddings to newborns and family sessions! I love my job and I wouldn’t change anything.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting your own business is never easy. There’s a lot of stress and anxiety around it. There are definitely fluctuations of success and what feels like mini failures. But, whenever I feel down or doing my ability as a business owner there’s always something to bring me back in the game. Whether that’s booking an exciting session or receiving a glowing review. It’s not easy, but it’s insanely rewarding.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I take pride in my photography style. It doesn’t fit in one box so I don’t try to force it into one. I like to let me clients lead the session as I document the memory rather than creating a faux one. My galleries reflect the love and laughter happening before the camera.
