Check Out Tyrell Griffin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyrell Griffin

Hi Tyrell, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Tyrell Griffin, born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. I’m 32 years old and attended Paseo High School of Fine and Performing Arts, where I discovered my love for the saxophone in middle school and played all the way through college. I found Krump dance in my junior year of high school in 2009 and was self-taught for a long time until I connected with others in my city. Eventually, I traveled to California, where Krump was created, and learned from the best, including the style’s creators, Tight Eyez and Mijo, as well as pioneers and veterans like Rawchyld and Beast.

Over the years, I’ve built a name and brand for myself as Konwork, and people call me Almighty Dot, Midwest God, among other names in my dance career. I also picked up photography and videography around 2011 and am now a videographer for Stanceelements, the biggest street dance videography company in the world. We specialize in capturing talented dancers globally and work with major brands like Red Bull, Monster, Snipes, Xbox, Adidas, Korea Tourism, Olympics & More.

We are the largest breakdance a street dance production compani^ millions of reach on all maior social media platforms: Youtube, Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Growing up in poverty, every day is a struggle. It’s not hard most days, but some days can be easy. Every day, I’m thinking of ways to break generational curses and make the best out of life with the God-given gifts and talents I have. God’s unlimited love makes it easier, but life is still confusing. A lot of us don’t even know why we’re here, but the mission is to keep pushing no matter what.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a dancer, leader, pioneer, and big homie in the Krump scene, but also a goofball at heart. What sets me apart is my relentless drive; I don’t give up, and I will never give up. Anything I say I’ma do or put my mind to, I make it happen. I specialize in music (Saxophone) , dance, photography, videography, and comedy, all while keeping God at the center of it all.

I’m most proud of organizing events like Krump vs Everybody Vol 2 in Kansas City, which brought together guest performers from around the world and was a huge success. My work as a videographer for Stanceelements, capturing talented dancers globally and working with major brands, is also something I hold dear. What really sets me apart is my commitment and passion; I’m driven to break generational curses and make the best out of the talents I’ve been blessed with.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see the industry growing in ways we can’t even imagine right now. I want to make it as big as possible and achieve financial freedom. I’m all about opening doors—the same doors that were opened for me, and even bigger ones. I plan to make my brands official LLCs and give people jobs, showing that a 9-5 isn’t needed if you work hard on your own stuff. Anyone can do it if they put in the effort. The industry will see more collaboration, innovation, and opportunities for those willing to hustle and stay true to their vision.
