Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Cortez

Hi Claudia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I went to the Beauty school in my country El Salvador in 2002, I’ve worked in different beauty companies there and in 2011 I moved to the USA, I didn’t know how everything worked here because I didn’t speak English back in that time and also I didn’t know I needed a license, I try to do all but in 2016 I get my license and I owned my own salon business. I ended up going to Fashion Week in 2016, and have been to Fashion week in Paris, New York, and Kansas.I currently have my own studio on 83rd and Metcalf and I have owned it for 4 years working with amazing women like Alejandra, Dyanna and (Melissa) who is my daughter.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Several things were struggles for me but One of the biggest struggles was learning the language.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is a cosmetology business. My business specializes in doing hair, makeup, nails, waxing, and all things beauty. I love to keep my customers happy and looking good. My services are to fulfill people’s needs and wants to keep them looking fresh and healthy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’ve been very lucky with the timing of my business. During covid most salons had to cut back and stop accepting new clients. I was fortunate that my business continued to grow leading up to 2020. It was June in 2020 that I opened my first shop due to high demand. Most weren’t as lucky in business as I was during this time. I thank GOD everyday for my loyal clients during that uncertain time.
