Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Lopez
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Having my own business was always a dream of mine. I love to travel and also a huge foodie. My inspiration was Los Angeles street food. There was nothing like it in Kansas City so I had the idea of bringing it closer to home. We started out by asking close friends to have us join their community events such as first Fridays or pop ups to get our name out there. After receiving great feedback people started reaching out to contact us for other community and or private events. We hope to continue to serve our community as well as catering different types of events such as weddings, birthdays & family gatherings etc.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has luckily been pretty smooth, with some bumps here and there of course. As a first time business owner we have been learning a lot along the way. One of our struggles was not knowing how busy we would get, at times it’d be just two of us and we’d have a line of 15+ people all ordering multiple hotdogs. After a few events we asked some of our family and friends to help at different times and they have all been great and willing to help at any time we ask. Getting our name out there was a bit of a struggle at first as well as accepting that not all community events we serve will have the same successful outcome.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a new business that specializes in street food specifically hot dogs. Our all beef bacon wrapped hot dogs are cooked to perfection then topped with condiments, grilled onion and bell peppers and lastly hot Cheeto dust. For our non picky costumers we recommend they try it all. We are proud of our work and all the amazing reviews we have received from our customers. We strive to always use fresh and quality products to create the perfect streetdog. We accept feedback and make sure that all of our customers are happy and content with our food every time.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was born and raised in Kansas City, with two brothers and a ton of cousins. Growing up with a big family I remember every year we’d have our family reunion and you’d find me near the grill helping with the food. In the kitchen when my parents were cooking dinner learning their ways. So I’ve always enjoyed cooking, this year we took our Streetdogs to our family reunion and they were a hit! I received a couple catering gigs right after just from the word of mouth and the pictures my family posted. Seeing others enjoy my food makes me happy.
