Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomson Ticum-archila
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began my photography and videography career just as a hobby, seeing my friend Jorge San Jose using a camera and pointing it at some trees and I thought to myself “How good is that gonna look, it’s just trees?”
At the moment I didn’t know anything about photography or videography. A few days later I saw the video he created at a college event and it looked incredible and I couldn’t stop admiring it and thinking to myself “I wanna learn to do that”
From that moment, I dove into learning as much as I could, eventually purchasing my own camera to practice on. What started as a casual hobby quickly evolved into something more, and it has thankfully continued to grow since then.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We faced many challenges, such as the decision to formalize the business with my brother and navigating all the complexities that came with it. In the same way, creating budgets to keep the company afloat and establishing our brand to attract potential clients were challenges that we have had to overcome many times. My brother and I have full-time jobs, so finding the time to grow the business has been, and continues to be, an ongoing challenge.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ticum Media LLC ?
We specialize in creating high-quality content, films, and photography for businesses such as hospitals and universities. We also offer professional photography and videography services for events, including weddings and quinceañeras.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe the world is becoming increasingly driven by technology and social media. Because of that, I see videography and photography continuing to grow exponentially. Technology is becoming more accessible to people of all ages, from the younger generation to the older as well. I believe that as technology becomes more essential in everyday life, the audio and visual industry will naturally evolve with it, since images—whether photos, videos, or audio are foundational to how we engage with and understand technology.
