Hidden Gems: Meet Rachel Sosa of Readings & Reiki with Rachel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Sosa

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up I always knew I was “sensitive”, I just didn’t realize that it was energy/spirit that I was sensitive to. For instance: I would play outside and be able to feel energy from rocks when holding them, I would know a stranger was heartbroken just by looking at them, and I could feel spirits or ghosts from as far back as I can remember. It has been quite the journey from that little girl to who I am now.

I received my first Reiki session in 2016 and that is when it all clicked… I realized my sensitivity to energy was actually a gift. I began taking classes right away! After I became certified I started offering sessions for donations for friends and that quickly grew into people referring me to their friends and family and then I knew I had to get a space and start charging a set fee. Shortly after getting my space I started teaching classes. I LOVE teaching! It confuses some people that I teach others to do what I do and therefore am creating my own competition but that is not what this is about. I truly believe that there is enough to go around and we all have unique gifts that call the right people to us when they need it.

My approach to all of this magical work is always based in reality. I am your typical working mom, who has a million things to take care of and if you get a session from me or take one of my classes I will most likely be wearing leggings and a band t-shirt. I am a regular person who has the ability to do some pretty amazing things… just like anyone else! We don’t have to meditate in a field of flowers or perform elaborate ceremonies to be connected to Spirit. There is room in our everyday lives for a little magic.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, it has been pretty smooth. It all happened so fast! One day I was doing Reiki for friends and then all of a sudden I had referrals reaching out and regular clients! I will say that I do struggle with two things: time and cost. Unfortunately, my availability is very limited. I have a full time job and my daughter is in competitive dance which is pretty much like another job in itself. As for cost, I have kept my rates low since I started years ago. I strive to make Energy Healing available to everyone, no matter their budget. I always think, “If I couldn’t afford one of my sessions then I would be charging too much.” Yes, I know my worth and know that this work is life changing to those that receive it, but it always comes back to me, whether in tips or gifts.

We’ve been impressed with Readings & Reiki with Rachel, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Reiki Master Teacher and Tarot/Oracle Card Reader. I describe myself as an intuitive empath. During a session or reading I am a conduit for Source Energy. The magic isn’t coming from me, I am the middle man. I think what I am most proud of is my realistic approach to my work. I believe that if I present myself as I truly am to my clients it makes them trust in me more. I don’t change the way I speak to work in buzz words or over complicate things to seem more magical. In reality they are just as magical as I am, I have just taken the classes, and at the end of the day we are all people here on this Earth.

My offerings:
Reiki Sessions include energy work of all kinds like clearing, cord cutting, chakra balancing, etc. You are not limited to certain skillsets of mine in a session, the session will include anything that feels right at no extra cost. I typically use Spiritual tools such as crystals, rattles, herbs for smudging, sprays, oils, and Oracle cards in every session.

Classes: I offer Reiki 1, 2, and Master classes. Right now these are all offered as private classes to fit everyone’s schedule.

Tarot/Oracle Readings: I cannot tell you your future but I can give you loving guidance, reassurance, and clarity with the help of my connection to Spirit.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I was born here in KC 38 years ago, and man, has this city grown up with me since then! I love showing people our city that have never been here before. They are always so surprised with our vibrant arts culture, our trendy restaurants, and our progressiveness. We aren’t the cow town that everyone thinks we are. My current dislike about the city is all of this construction! I appreciate the work the city is doing on its self but does it really need to happen everywhere at the same time?
