Community Highlights: Meet Anna Morrissey of AnnaMo Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Morrissey

Hi Anna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved to KC a little over 8 years ago after I was offered a new job. I was a little nervous to move to a new city and wasn’t sure if it would work out, so I decided to sign a 6-month lease in order to have an “out” if I needed one. Wow, I am so glad that I was proved wrong! In the first few months, I made new friends, joined new sports leagues, had some amazing food, and absolutely fell in love with the city and all it has to offer. I created my own business a little over a year ago and that has allowed me to hit into my creative side. It has also allowed me to meet more people, learn a lot of new things, and work with other small businesses and that’s been rewarding and fun. Overall, Kansas City proved to a be very positive thing for me and I call it home – I love it here!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have experienced a few speed bumps – starting your own business is a lot of work, more than I originally thought! There’s pressures, anxieties, opinions, etc. I have been thankful for the support of my family and my partner Tobey, and grateful for good friends.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
AnnaMo Studio specializes in customization and personalization – I can take designs and logos and put them on many different styles of clothing, bags, stickers, tumblers, etc. I enjoy working with small businesses who would like to see their logos on different items and also love working with individuals to make their ideas come to life – whether it be a gift for someone, making shirts for a team, designing a sign for a wedding day, and everything in between – I love being able to take ideas and turn them into something special.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I don’t think I can just pick one, but I love the memories from the holidays. My birthday is around Thanksgiving so I have always been blessed to be around my family to celebrate with them. And then, of course, Christmas is not too long after Thanksgiving, and that’s filled with a lot of amazing memories and traditions, too.
