Daily Inspiration: Meet Trina Cole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trina Cole

Hi Trina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I once owned a for profit restaurant, Delta Trenz, L.L.C.  But in September 2023, I opened Trina’s Kitchen & Resource Center, Incorporated, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, has offered nutritious meals to Kansas City’s homeless, below-poverty, food-insecure, and low-income individuals.  Trina’s Kitchen provides needed resources and services to those who are underrepresented and those who live in disinvested communities.

On a weekly basis, I offer food to our homeless community members, children and families in Kansas City, Missouri.  My heart is in serving those who are experiencing less than desirable circumstances.   Trina’s Kitchen and Resource Center, Inc. believes that everyone deserves a hot meal, regardless of their ability to pay.  Food and shelter are basic needs that should be met, but many times we take for granted.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of current challenges are access to funding. I am currently providing majority of the operation cost for Trina’s Kitchen and Resource Center. I am having a hard time getting approved for grants, community support, and City help.
