Check Out Jack Dunker’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Dunker.

Hi Jack, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always loved music. I started when I was 5 playing guitar. As I grew I fell even more in love with the creation of music. Through the years I’ve been interested in lots of different things but music alway stayed as my primary motivation. I learned viola and violin, I taught myself piano so I could compose music in a more traditional fashion. But it was only about 2 years ago when I found my true passion in music. 2 years ago I began writing lyrics. This is where I became the artist I am today

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No I’ve wanted to quit a lot. I’ve had quite a few empty shows, I’ve had weeks where I can’t write a single verse. I remember one show where I literally just played for two bar tenders and a table of old ladies. After the show I found a note in my guitar case that I still keep in my wallet today. One of the old ladies had left a note saying that my music had touched her heart that day. That was the day I relized that it’s not always about how full you can get the bar. Sometimes it’s about the emotion you can give an audience member.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I write acoustic country/folk music. I just put out a four track EP about a month ago. I think what sets me apart is my unique style of lyricism compared to what a lot of country music sounds like today. I look to invoke emotions more that just write a catchy hook.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been a creative. Very laid back I often find it hard to worry. Which has definitely caused me some grief considering a healthy fear of failure good. Growing up I loved listening to artist like Bob Dylan and analyzing his song writing techniques.
