Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Zenitsky
Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I remember the first time I watched the movie Grease as a little girl, the beauty school drop-out scene, all that pink hair! It was that moment I was captivated by the world of hair.
Just over 10 years ago I had decided I wouldn’t let fear decide my fate and enrolled in Paul Mitchell Overland Park full time. I was scared because I knew I would have to be in overdrive to get through it, but I knew it would all be worth it.
Immediately after graduation I applied and interned for a prestigious salon in the area. That’s where I feel I was able to truly start putting what I learned to the test, while also picking up additional knowledge from the master stylists I was working under. I gained so much in the time I was there and feel they truly prepared me to start taking my own clients.
My second salon is where I really got my behind the chair experience and that’s where I started building my skills and gaining confidence while also building up a very strong, incredible client list.
After almost 10 years behind that chair I decided the universe was telling me to bring my own vision to the world and with the help of family and friends, I was able to found my first business and salon Arcadia!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest part was leaving behind something that I felt so comfortable in. It’s a big leap to go on your own but I knew I had a very wide support system and everyone was rooting for me the whole way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a cosmetologist and while I don’t specialize in any one area, I am most know for my color abilities. I absolutely love the challenge in formulating for each persons specific needs to get them to their hair goals or as close as possible.
I pride myself in putting the integrity of the hair over the dollar, I would much rather tell you something isn’t achievable than blindly taking your money. I listen to your needs and your hair.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The ability to tailor myself to each client and listening to them, allowing them to set their boundaries and staying within them.
