

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Chen
Hi Christina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Back in 2016, one of our co-founders, Brett Suddreth, was working on an SEO account on the side for a client’s small Canadian operations. Soon, however, that client asked Brett if he could not only take on their US SEO but also their paid digital media in North America as well. So, he and Jim Henderson, our other co-founder, started meeting to discuss what would evolve into Seismic Digital.
Wanting to make Seismic Digital a place unlike other places they had both worked, they founded the company on the principles of transparency, authenticity, and the value of relationships over revenue. Our mission is to create, execute, and deliver new and innovative digital marketing products/services that produce exponential growth for our partners. This means diving into and truly understanding our partners’ businesses. It means showing the entire story to our clients – the good, bad, and sometimes the ugly – and never shying away from a challenge. It also means being a true, strategic partner for our clients’ long-term growth and helping them find a solution even if it’s a service we don’t offer.
So, from that small SEO side gig, Seismic Digital became who we are today – a full-service agency using exclusive data, market insights, award-winning creative, and years of experience to help brands reach new heights, developing best-in-class strategies backed by data.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Anyone who says scaling a business is easy apparently never worked in this industry. There are many challenges marketing agencies face in terms of staffing appropriately to ensure quality outcomes and employee satisfaction, along with the large increase in market competitors and a constantly evolving landscape of new technologies. It’s the environment we like, though, as it keeps us curious to learn new skills and our minds sharp so our team expands their knowledge and our clients discover new ways to generate business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Even though I often don’t think I play a HUGE role in this company, everyone here tells me I do so maybe there’s something to that 😉 I love how I was given the chance to be a part of a team and company that accepted me when I had zero background in digital marketing. The patience and time they have given me to train me to be where I am today. There is a lot to learn in this evolving industry. I have always been curious about digital marketing. Still, it wasn’t until during COVID that it really got my interest in wanting to know how SEO and Paid Media worked and how they can help companies grow. Quality matters here and I am a big believer when it comes to quality over quantity. We may be a small business, but we do big things!
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The importance of flexibility and understanding when it comes to remote work. One positive that came out of that situation was that it highlighted how well teams can and do work together in remote work operations. While we do have a hybrid model here at Seismic Digital in order to expedite meetings, and processes and encourage team interaction, being flexible with everyone’s work habits and schedules helps ensure employee wellness and better manage work/life balance.
