Hi Omika, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Years ago I was on a journey to find my purpose as I couldn’t escape the feeling of being lost in life. I had goals and a dream I was working towards but I had no idea how I was going to make that dream my reality. I’ve always had a passion for helping others but I struggled to find how I could channel that passion to actually make a difference in people lives. I researched different career paths while working the standard 9-5, & as time went on I became more uncomfortable with where I was in life as my days began to look and feel the same. I knew I was the only one who could change that so I put a plan together and decided it was time to put the plan in motion. I chose real estate for several different reasons but the feeling I get from helping individuals who never thought homeownership would be possible truly makes my heart full. I’m able to carry out my purpose at Kansas City’s First Time Homebuyer Headquarters where our mission is to help residents in Kansas and Missouri understand homeownership, obtain quality housing, and earn residual income. I’m excited to say I no longer feel lost in life, but fulfilled that I’m walking in my purpose & I’m just getting started!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth but I’m grateful. I had moments of self doubt where I let the fear of failure prevent me from moving forward. Because of this I had to take my real estate course twice because I was so afraid after my first course that I’d fail the big test and I’d let myself and my family down. It took me months to get my head back in the game but during that time realized that there’s nothing that I can’t do and the only way to fail is if I don’t try. Often times when we make a plan we forget that there may be hiccups along the way but it’s important to keep your eye on your goal and don’t stop no matter how many times you have to adjust.

My passion for helping others and being a resource to my community fueled my decision in becoming a REALTOR®️ and working at the First Time Homebuyer Headquarters. My mission is to help families and individuals create generational wealth through real property, financial literacy, and ownership. I love helping first time homebuyers achieve their goal of owning their own home and helping lay the foundation of their legacy. I understand that purchasing your first home is not just a transaction; it’s a significant milestone and a gateway to your future. While helping first-time home buyers is a passion of mine, I also specialize in a wide range of real estate services.
