Rising Stars: Meet Grace Schmidt of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Schmidt

Hi Grace, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2021 I started my instagram account it started as a way for me to share my dance journey but as I gained followers i grew into doing influencer stuff. I’m only 16 and usually influencers my age parents run their accounts. I can proudly say mine is 100% self made and run. I am now up to 56k followers. In 2022 I started doing collabs my parents freaked out trying to figure out where all these packages are coming from. But it was me working with brands and getting products in exchange for my content. Some of my favorite brands I worked with have been hollister, ivory Ella, and versed.

I’m also a competitive dancer. I have been dancing for about 12 years and I have found my dance home at refine the studio. My instagram was originally started to document my dance journey hence the user name. But my instagram grew into something bigger but my love for dance stays.

I have also started to get into modeling, which has always been a dream of mine. I do trade for print work which I really enjoy doing. Being able to work with many photographers is amazing I’ve met so many wonderful creatives. I recently got news that I’m on the roster for a runaway show which I’m very excited about.

I am very grateful for all the amazing things I’ve been able to do and look forward to the future.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, but nothing is a smooth road which is part of being human! My age is definitely a limit on things I can do. There are companies that wouldn’t work with me because they see my age as a liability. But there will be many doors that open when I turn 18 which is something I look forward to. I also can struggle with motivation to create content time to time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an influencer my content can be a bit all over the place with lifestyle, fashion and dance. I feel I stand out from others is being a “triple threat” as an influencer, dancer, and model. My age is also something that stands out and how much I’ve achieved at only 16.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m always looking with a new way to improve my content. I hope to see influencing be something I do for a long time I can’t imagine life without it. I would like to start modeling more as well. Since you can no longer compete at a studio once out of high school I hope to get on a college dance team to be able to continue my dance career. I can’t wait to meet my future self!
