Meet Sam/Hayley Harper/Neville of bxbbly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam/Hayley Harper/Neville

Hi Sam/Hayley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hayley and I (Sam) started bxbbly after I planned Hayley’s bachelorette party as her maid of honor. We had such a blast planning and decorating that once it was all done, we wanted to go back and do it all over. After some convincing from friends and family, I decided to jump right in and get started. I got started on all of the small details, realizing that I didn’t want to do this alone, so I asked Hayley if she wanted to be my co-owner and she immediately agreed! I’ve been a stay at home mom for a few years, so this was all so brand new and so exciting! We immediately launched our website and social medias and started marketing and networking with other vendors in the area.

We first started with a branding shoot, to show what we could do and what we offer. That helped get us off the ground and have some content before we started booking parties. We also immediately signed up for a wedding expo through Kansas City Engaged, where we met so many amazing people and truly started getting our name out there. Slowly but surely we started getting bookings, we were beyond ecstatic!

We look at every event as an opportunity to improve our skills. I focus on the backdrops and balloon garlands, as well as being the point of contact for clients and vendors. Hayley’s focus is charcuterie, table scapes, and she’s our social media person! All the posts and engagement you see is usually her.

At the beginning of March of this year, we decided we needed a rebrand. Our sole focus previously had been bachelorette parties, but we realized we could do so much more! We had been having thoughts about this for several months after throwing a company anniversary party for Ellevate Skin + Brows, and realizing we could do so much more! At the end of March, we had officially rebranded and launched our new website! Since then we have done so many different kinds of parties, including birthday parties, pop up events, and graduation parties!

We are so excited to see what the future holds for us! There are so many fun things coming up and we’ve got something exciting happening soon that we can’t wait to share!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Surprisingly it’s been pretty smooth! We definitely have expected more obstacles, and of course there’s always time to run into some, but we’ve been incredibly lucky to have such supportive partners, friends, and family. The biggest struggle we have is trying to juggle Hayley’s full time work schedule with booking parties! We’re hoping soon that we can both be doing this full time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about bxbbly ?
Hayley and I (Sam) started bxbbly because we LOVE love, and love to make sure people feel celebrated and accepted. We focus on small to medium sized events, including bachelorette parties, kids and adult birthday parties, baby showers, wedding showers, graduation parties, girls nights, engagement parties, you name it! All of our packages come with balloon garlands and photo backdrops, and build out from there.

Hayley and I are authentically ourselves, we stay true to who we are and will never try and fit into any kind of mold. We take inclusivity very seriously in every aspect. We are LGBTQ+ friendly, and take disability access to heart. We’re here to have fun and make sure that includes EVERYONE.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Honestly, everything is a risk. From starting the business to every party we book. Taking a risk is just betting on yourself. The Kansas City area doesn’t have a lot of businesses like us, so we took the chance and gave it a shot. It was the best risk we’ve taken!
