Life & Work with Jimmie Bratcher

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jimmie Bratcher.

Jimmie Bratcher

Hi Jimmie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
The beginning: In the driveway was a 1958 Desoto, and in the house was a twelve-year-old boy and a dad with a plan.

“Will trade 1958 Desoto for electric guitar and amplifier” was how the ad read in the Kansas City Star newspaper. One call came, and I went home with a beautiful white Gibson SG Jr. and a Gibson Falcon amplifier. That’s where it all started, and I still have both the guitar and amp.

Years have passed since that day, but the sound of that gift my Dad gave me still rocks, and you can hear it on my new album several of my albums.

For the past 25 years, Jimmie Bratcher has dedicated his life to the Ministry of Showing Up, traveling alongside his wife Sherri to churches, prisons, and other venues, sharing the transformative power of a simple invitation and the hope in Jesus. Jimmie is also a globally recognized blues-rock-gospel guitarist and singer-songwriter, with his 2023 release, “Far Enough,” reaching the #2 spot worldwide.

Their journey, marked by personal struggles with selfishness and substance abuse, took an unexpected turn as they reconciled after divorce. With a marriage license in hand, they stumbled into a small country church where the pastor’s condition for officiating their marriage was a commitment to Jesus, a pivotal moment that transformed their lives forever. Celebrating 50 years of marriage, Jimmie and Sherri regard their three children and nine grandchildren as their greatest accomplishments.

Jimmie’s life reflects a theme of reconciliation, particularly when he and his estranged daughter, Jessica, reunited after 38 years apart. Driven by a compelling invitation to reconnect and the transformative influence of Jesus, they also travel across the country together, sharing a message of universal hope and forgiveness that extends to all people.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I play and speak in various venues, such as prisons, churches, music venues, biker rallies, etc.

I am most proud of my family. Professionally, I am proud that we are not confined to one audience. That we are able to perform and speak to a wide variety of people.

What sets me apart is that I am a minister and that I can do what I do everywhere, not solely in churches. And people seem to like it.
