Today, we’d like to introduce you to Astro B.

Astro B.

Hi Astro, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My journey began when I was ten years old! My first ever con and cosplay! It was a blast and now I haven’t stopped 9 years later!

In the last year or so, I’ve started to make and compete in my own costumes that I’ve made! Now, I also offer commissions to my supporters! My mission in cosplay is to show that even the chronically ill, disabled, and really anyone can cosplay. No matter what!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As costumes got bigger and more complex, my own mobility and illnesses started to show their ugly heads.

Over time I know what I can handle and take on! I’ve also had a hard time dealing with stress when things don’t go the way I need them to! Autistic meltdowns suck for me and for my family. They have been hard to deal with but over time (and lots of therapy) it’s gotten alot easier!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I’m an award-winning competitive cosplayer!

With over 25+ awards under my belt (from big cons to small mall ones!) I’m most known for my creative and innovative costumes! And it takes me no time at all! The longest build I’ve ever had was two weeks! I do commissions (both costumes, pieces, and wigs!) For others all around the world! I’m mostly a wig artist and a seamstress!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up was challenging, to put it lightly. I always struggled with going to school and doing homework. After some hard illness fights, we decided to drop me out of school in 7th grade.

Since then, we have done unschooling, and I graduated high school at age 16! It gave me a great opportunity to learn what I needed for the career I wanted to go into and let’s be honest, who uses algebra anyway.

Growing up with a plethora (autism and PTSD, among others) of different diagnoses and going to doctors and hospitals every other week was rough. But it gave me the abilities and skills I have now! It made me… well, me!

Pricing:

  • Wig commissions start at 30$
