Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Peacock.
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It was luck, and I knew someone who got me my first job on a film set. This is why I believe in networking and helping others in the community. You never know when an opportunity may present itself. From films, it turned into TV gigs and then into advertising. As a freelancer, I was offered different projects, and I built up my resume as a producer. I started working with big brands like Coca-Cola and Under Armour, and then Garmin led me to Kansas City. Over the last year, I’ve enjoyed getting to know the community and working with clients like Enchant. The community makes the city, and I am so happy to be a part of it.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think there are always struggles and ups and downs in any job. If it were easy, everyone would do it. One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced over the last fourteen years has been uncertainty with the business. When it rains, it pours, but when it’s dry, it’s a desert out there. Managing your time and finances and always having a backup plan for when jobs are not as frequent is something I recommend. Also, invest in yourself and your craft when times are a little bit slower. Learn a new part of the business and continue honing your skills.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Producer and a Writer. I specialize in advertising campaigns as well as feature films. Most of my work I’m known for is with big brands like Garmin, MGM Resorts International, Coca-Cola, etc. I am also a #1 Amazon author of the book “Female. Likes Cheese. Comes with Dog: Stories about Divorce, Dating & Saying I Do.” I’m most proud of writing a book. It didn’t make Oprah’s book club or anything, haha, but I wanted to write something relatable to women going through their relationship journey. Every project I produce or article I write is a new adventure, and I’m always learning something new. That’s what I continue taking with me on my career journey. What sets me apart from others is that I still feel that loyalty and dependability are sexy traits in relationships (all types). You don’t see that much anymore, but I don’t give up hope.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I believe in handwritten thank you notes and sending gifts to my clients.
