Meet Aaliyah Lane

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaliyah Lane.

Aaliyah Lane

Hi, Aaliyah; we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I was a little girl, Art and English were always my favorite classes to attend. Poetry became a big part of my life, but I always wanted to do photography, but I felt it wasn’t a career I could pursue. For Christmas, when I was about 8 years old, I was gifted a camera and took pictures everywhere I went. I grew out of photography to pursue poetry, performing live at different venues until I wanted to do something different one day. I wanted to buy a camera but wasn’t sure why. In 2022, the feeling of buying a camera became stronger and stronger, and I finally gave in around June 2022. I took my camera everywhere I went and to events in the community; my camera and I were inseparable. I started to become noticed in the city, and people wanted to book me for events. Now, I can do photography and videography full-time.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Doing photography and videography has been challenging. Sometimes, I wanted to quit because I was putting so much work into my craft and felt like people did not take me seriously. People took my talent for advantage and wanted me to do everything for free or get over on me. I had a lot of late nights and early mornings to try and prove my talents to others, but the only person I needed to prove my talents to was myself. I worked hard to be taken as a serious photographer and videographer, and it paid off.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer and videographer. I specialize in event photography/videography. I have taken pictures of celebrities for radio stations, engagement parties, sporting events, and more. I am most proud of being published in the Fayetteville Observer and seeing my work being shared around the city. What sets me apart from others is my passion for my craft. I love what I do and believe in myself to accomplish my goals. I went from job to job, unhappy with my life, and took a risk to start over career-wise to do what I love.

Before we go, can you talk to us about how people can work, collaborate, or support you?
People can work and collaborate with me by connecting with me on Instagram @hazelseyesmedia. People can support me by spreading the word about what I do (photography and videography). I love collaborating with others and want to start doing video and audio interviews with other creators to help support others and their crafts.
